Rarely do homes become available with as many solar passive design features as 7 Leal Place Palmerston. Designed by renowned Canberra architect Meron Downes, the brief was twofold, technically, the home had to maximise solar efficiency, while artistically it had a have a sculptural, space intensive internal presence. The home also includes many other clever design features such as internal masonry to increase thermal mass; eaves positioned to allow sun into the house in winter and keep it out in summer; windows configured to catch summer breezes and increase cross-ventilation

Externally, the roof, is sculptured to mirror the vaulted ceilings, thereby providing an intriguing roofline.
